Château de Mazelières, located 20 minutes from Agen, was the birthplace of Charles de Batz de Castelmore, better known as D’Artagnan, the hero from the Three Musketeers. In the small town of Espiens, its vineyards produce one of the finest vintages from the Buzet wine region, a combination of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc grapes.

Beyond its main entry porch, the chateau is shaped like a perfect square in a design inspired by Paris’ Tuileries Garden. Grouped together with several outbuildings, the chateau and its pointed towers overlook a 50-hectare estate. It is surrounded by grassy terraces, a landscaped garden with hundred-year-old cedars, a garden pavilion for warmer weather, and a large outdoor pool.
