Whatever you do, don’t confuse a manor with a château! Manors are smaller and primarily located in the countryside, just outside of a village. This style of non-fortified home has been a charming feature of the country’s luxury real estate heritage since the 15th century. The many discreet manors for sale in France are designed to cater to their residents, who can rightly consider themselves lords and ladies of their own slice of heaven.

17th century manor in Vouvray (37210)

Renowned for its wines, which have been granted protected destination of origin status, this village in the Loire Valley, located 15 minutes outside of Tours, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Its exceptional homes are used as both primary and secondary residences.

A conversion into a B&B is possible

This particular manor overlooks a 1.3-hectare landscape garden complete with a pool and caretaker’s home. 18th century manor in Montfort-l'Amaury (78420)

Located 55 kilometres from Paris on the edge of Rambouillet forest and not far from a golf course, the village of Montfort-l’Amaury is a favourite destination for celebrities visiting Yvelines that will make you want to invest in one of the manors for sale in Île-de-France.

Listed manor in Trouville-la-Haule (27680)

Set within the Boucles de la Seine Normande Regional Natural Park, this town in the French department of Eure is spared the usual flood of tourists. Its prestigious real estate offering includes a number of manors located just 150 kilometres from Paris.

The proximity of Deauville and Honfleur
