In Pérignac, in the seigneurial château de Lerse homestead
In the Charente-Maritime region, the towers of the château de Lerse overlook the seigneurial estate, between the fields and woods of Pérignac.
Stronghold of both rustic and refined gastronomy, in the Western part of France, the Charente region offers a great number of châteaux scattered across its territory. Around Angoulême, many of them spark the interest of visitors wishing to discover them along with their story, part of our national historical patrimony, such as this 15th century homestead, nestled in a soft glen.
Lerse, a family homestead in Pérignac
Built by the lord of Lerse, as a square, like a small stronghold, it has always remained in the hands of the same family. The decorative scallops, chizeled on both sides of the door, testify to the fact this venue was located on the road to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle and welcomed pilgrims. The ensemble is located in the middle of 105 hectares of greenery, comprising 35 hectares of forests.
Freestone walls and outbuildings
Behind the freestone walls, 600 liveable square meters are divided on 2 levels : a dining room with red tiled floors, 4 bedrooms with exposed wooden beams, a living room with a monumental fireplace and a billiards room. As for its outbuildings, the estate also features a guest house, another for caretakers as well as a dovecote. Strong assets to lord over the manor…
