Along the Elbe, and on the hillside of the very exclusive Blankenes neighborhood of Hamburg, one discovers a very unusual construction dating back to the 20s. It's the Villa Jako, a residence built by architect Walter Baedeker whose facade featuring columns is inspired by the classic design of a Roman homestead. As secret as it is luxuious, it was the German designer's haven of peace in the 90s.

Karl Lagerfeld and the follies of Villa Jako

Constructed on the floor-level of a land plot spanning 12 000 m², this fanciful villa overlooks the river and its glass doors open up directly on a garden prolongated by a terrace from which it is possible to watch the boats go by. An inspiring panorama for Karl Lagerfeld. The house comprises 3 levels, and offers the perfect symmetry of its orignial conception.

A decor to live the grand life in Hambourg

Under its central atrium, the living space covers 443 m². It opens up on 3 reception rooms and a luminous living room of 80 m². With its 6-meter-high ceiling, decorated with gold leaf, it conveys a majestic characer. As for the gallery on the 1st floor, it serves as a library and leads to 3 large bedrooms. A cult setting that is awaiting its new owner…
