Coveted over the centuries by leading fortunes, this fortified château was named after the Baron de Castille, in the 18th century. Built in the village of Argilliers, the château and its outbuildings are enhanced with columns, balusters and fountains. In the 50s, it was acquired by Douglas Cooper, historian, art collector and a friend of Picasso's who painted give large frescoes on the premices.

The château de Castille, historical flagship of the Gard

Registered as a Historical Monument, it is surrounded by a 2 hectare park comprising a gallery, a basin, French-style gardens, many historical stone ornaments and a caretaker's house. As for the decoration, it is signed by interior architect Dick Dumas, who has mingled traditional rustic elements and more elegant objects.
