A confidential art trade, straw marketry was born in Europe during the 17th century. Nowadays, this craftsmanship, still little-known by the public at large, but whose apprenticeship takes place in a few schools, consists in covering up objects and furniture with rye straw chaff layering. It is finally taking on a contemporary color, under the decisive impluse of Lison de Caunes.

Very early on, she became familiar with this material in the workshop of her grandfather and Art Deco master, decorator André Groult. She came back after studying bookbinding and sparked a small revolution in this ancient technique by dedicating herself, in collaboration with interior architects and designers, to the creation of furniture, accessories and wall upholstering.

Prestigious clients around the world

Warm colors, poetic decors, material effects associated with gold leaf, mother-of-pearl and glass paste, her work finally paid off. This exercice of style already seduced clients such as the editor of Ozone luminaries, the Guerlain perfume shop on the Champs-Elysées, the Louis Vuitton concept store, place Vendôme, and the Four Seasons Hotel, in New York. Hats off to tradition…
