In Bruges, the Concertgebouw unveils its musical agenda
Bruges, capital of Belgian Western Flanders, proudly showcases its Concertgebouw, a concert auditorium whose agenda features leading musical festivals.
Conceived by the duo of architects Paul Robbrecht and Hilde Daem, the Concertgebouw is a music and scenic arts hub that is the pride of Bruges—also known for its historical sights and romantic canals. On Place Zand, its 120-meter long, 50-meter wide and 35-meter high dimensions allow it to seat up to 1300 persons.
Unrolling the musical agenda of the Concertgebouw
Among the important cultural events to be noted, the site, providing outstanding acoustics at world level, welcomes each year the Bach Academy in January, the MAfestival in August, and a dance festival in December. For purists, the ultra modern building also features a room that can host 320 auditors wishing to listen to chamber music in total peace and quiet.
Exhibitions, music and dance under the same roof
From the terraces of this new monument, built on 4696 springs, and whose facades are covered with thousands of red tiles, visitors can enjoy one of the most beautiful views overlooking the region. And in addition to an ephemeral exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art, at the summit of the « Tour de Lanterne », the site also shelters a restaurant making music rhythme with gastronomy.
