In Charleroi, the Glass Museum plays with transparency
In the town of Charleroi, the Glass Museum takes its visitors on a journey through the history of a transparent product, with a Belgian industrial background.
Founded 45 years ago, the Museum of Glass is a landmark in Charleroi. On the Bois du Cazier site, in the district of Marcinelle, it is located in a former lamp store, testifing to the manufacturing of a product, that along with the steel industry, textile and charcoal, was one of the four basic industries that contributed to the industrial soaring of Wallonia, during the 19th century.

The exhibition « Glass-making, a Human Beehive ? » is taking place here until the 25th of May 2018 and glass-blowers, juggling with glass in fusion, to the sound of the factory bell, ensure the artistic spectacle. Visitors are invited to stroll amongst a thousand faces of men and women, who produced these remarkable artistic works, between La Belle Epoque and the Roaring Twenties.
