In Spain, the exhibition « I’m Your Mirror » showcases the talent of Joana Vasconcelos, the most internationally renowned Portuguese artist of her generation. Vasconcelos took part in the Venice Biennale in 2005, and her work was displayed at the Palace of Versailles in 2010. The event features a mask, which immediately brings to mind traditional Venetian theatre.

Around thirty pieces produced between 1997 and 2019 are included in the exhibition. The event features some of the artist’s most famous works, such as « Burka » (2002) and « The bride » (2001-05), as well as more recent pieces and art created specifically for the occasion, such as the monumental « Egeria » (2018), which can be seen in the Guggenheim Museum’s atrium.

Sculpture on a gigantic scale

Two gigantic sculptures, « Pop Rooster » (2016) and « Solitary » (2018) are on display outside of the building. These productions, which feature movement, light, and sound, stand out for their sheer exuberance, broad chromatic palette, and infectious sense of humour. But if you plan on purchasing them for your collection, don’t forget to secure the cultural space you’d need to display them…
