In the south of Belgium’s Hainaut region, Chimay Castle is hosting an incredible concert series to celebrate its 1000-year history.
Interactive design has become a key component of any visit to a museum or historical monument. Chimay Castle, a Renaissance-era manor that has been occupied by the same princely family for over 1000 years, is no exception to the rule. Nestled in the city of the same name in Hainaut Province, the estate also owes its fame to a type of Trappist beer produced by the neighbouring Scourmont Abbey.
Music : a key part of Hainaut Province
The castle, which has served as the backdrop for major moments in European history, has made music the focus of its cultural activities—much to the delight of the die-hard music lovers who flock from Luxembourg, Germany, and France to enjoy the eclectic concerts performed in its small theatre, which is a listed historical monument in Wallonia.
Famous soloists on the schedule
The castle will host performances by the pianist Sofya Melikyan, a reinterpretation of beloved classics by Urban Piano Quartet, the orchestral duo of Yossif and Philippe Ivanov, a masterclass concert from Printemps des Voix, the solo performances of Thérèse Malengreau, « Flâneries » by the Soledad Ensemble, and the violin virtuoso, Sylvia Huang. In short, a concert series that is well worth the trip!
