For its 23rd edition, the International Heritage Fair has chosen as its theme Cultural Tourism. It is a subject of keen interest for the 340 exhibitors who know it first-hand, as France, which welcomes roughly 83 million visitors per year, boasts a diverse appeal in which natural heritage, as well as cultural heritage (tangible as well as intangible), play such an important role.

Landscapes, prestigious monuments, unique sites, an incomparable art of living, the singular history of the regions : all of these contribute to make France the unique and much-envied country we know. Expert craftspeople, institutions and local governments work together to reveal and restore the riches as well lesser-known buildings at risk, like wash-houses, dove-cotes, farms and chapels, thanks to a strong and adaptable system of patronage.

With the patronage of the Fondation de France, craft professions are supporting public and private heritage sites, historic and natural, officially protected or unprotected, to assure their conservation. Under the Louvre Pyramid, the Fair will host a number of talks, videos and demonstrations of preservation expertise. To close the event, there will be an awards ceremony for companies making France’s reputation in this field.
