Jean Roger tells the story of a Parisian family. At this workshop located on Place des Vosges, the tradition of ceramic making has been passed down from father to son for generations. François, the latest in a long line of craftsmen, set aside his career as a sommelier to study drawing at Paris’ School of Fine Arts and complete specialised modelling courses before taking up the company’s reins.

While reconciling the past with the present and keeping an eye on the future, this self-taught business leader has managed to maintain the illustrious reputation of this historic institution. This artist fires and colours decorative items, candlesticks, vases, boxes, and wall lights patterned with palm trees, leaves, artichokes, pineapples, and feathers as well as ducks, owls, frogs, and cats—all with a kitschy but tasteful style.

A diverse range with international reach

Designed inside a tiny factory, these pieces have garnered a following of loyal fans and even attracted the attention of Christian Louboutin, the decorator Laura Gonzalez, and buyers from the United States. While the company places its focus on original models, the lines and colours of its latest ranges add a modern touch that serves as a perfect accent to home interiors.
