London: Harrods, the most deluxe department store is celebrating its 185 years

After the Black Friday wave, Harrods is getting ready for « Boxing Day », like every 26th of December. In London, this holiday is the signal for this venerable Londonian institution, leading symbol of luxury that one needs to have visited at least once in a lifetime—a record breaking attendance of its various departments in order to indulge in compulsive purchases, with a single motto: let's go shopping!

Harrods is celebrating its 185 years

Founded just 185 years ago, this famed department store in the chic district of Knightsbridge is located in a building of Art Nouveau style where eccentricity is the byword. It offers a commercial surface of 92 000 m², spanning 7 floors, and 3 500 employes who each year advise more than 15 million clients through the different department dedicated to fashion, cosmetics, decoration and objects for the house.

World gastronomies in the spotlight

But Harrods would not be Harrods without its 30 thematic restaurants, and its « Hall of Food », a gourmet area with a stunning decor that is a major part of the City's touristic attractions. A real oversized market place taken over by gourmets from around the world who come in droves for the pleasure of looking and tasting. To be noted a dress code is required to penetrate in this shopping paradise.
