Hosted through an exclusive collaboration with the famous jewellery company Van Cleef & Arpels, the « Precious Stones » exhibition features an especially poetic scenography.
From 3 April 2020 to 3 January 2021, the Grande Galerie de l'Évolution in the National Museum of Natural History in Paris will host the « Precious Stones » exhibition. Along the show’s immersive pathway, the public will be able to admire close to 500 different minerals, gems, art objects, and more than 200 pieces of jewellery from Van Cleef & Arpels that have been designed to foster a continuous dialogue and bridge the gap between minerals and jewels.
The gem collections of Van Cleef & Arpels
The exhibition will include an in-depth exploration of the planet’s history and insight into relevant scientific breakthroughs through a thematic and chronological design. It will also showcase man-made creations. These pieces have always been the subject of fascination; in every civilisation, jewellery has served as an instrument of both beauty and power.
Ancient and modern jewellery
Forty showcases and three alcoves will display diamonds, topazes, sapphires, and aquamarines in three forms : raw minerals, cut gems, and fine jewellery, including necklaces, bracelets, brooches, clips, and ruffs. Most of these exceptional pieces have never been shown in France. A word to the wise, however… this incredible and historical collection might put you in a gift-giving mood !
