Traveling back in time to the era of the Sun King is now possible at the museum of the Domaine Royal de Marly, which enables its visitors to discover the surprising history of a bygone château. In this location, Louis XIV expressed his personal tastes, and provided a wide array of entertainment for his guests: hunting, concerts, games, nocturnal bals and promenades.

On site, the visitor immerges into the unique atmosphere of this pleasurable venue. The circuit begins with a presentation of the architecture and gardens, featuring the vestiges in the park. A little further, the secrets of the Marly machine, a huge mechanism whose construction required rerouting the waters of the Seine river to Versailles, will be revealed.

In the intimacy of the king

The rest of your visit will be dedicated to the intimate ambiance of this former historical landmark, instrument of the king's power far from the tumultuous court. Here, you will discover a regal art of living, the pleasures and aristocratic figures that left their imprint on the venue, in the image of his favorites, such as Madame de Maintenon, the Dauphin, the duc d’Orléans or the Princesse Palatine. Make sure to be sitting front row!
