Known to shelter the château of Saint Ferran, the largest medieval fortress in Europe, the town of Figueras, in Catalogna, is the fetish destination of all those passionate about surrealist art, and more specially the work of Salvador Dali. The creations of this unclassable artist, yet eminently theatrical all along his career, are subtly exposed in the museum showcasing his excessiveness.

Figueras, the Surrealist rendezvous of Salvador Dali

Built on the remains of the municipal theatre, the huge ocre red building is covered with small yellow catalan breads, surmounted by giant eggs, golden statues and a transparent cupola designed by architect Emilio Perez Pinero. It has become the town symbol, and by entering its circular space, you will partake in the most unexpected spectacle.

In the exhibition rooms, more than 1500 paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, holograms, stereoscopies, photographs and other fanciful creations, specially created for the venue, each have their place in order to offer a unique experience to visitors. This arty moment will give you the opportunity to observe and live amongst the romanesque works of this era's genius…
