The Underground Sculpture Park is a very unusual artistic project, launched by the Mexican Foundation Casa Wibi, whose purpose is to bury the works of artist Loris Géraud.
It's in the city of Puerto Escondido, in the Mexican province of Oaxca, that was inaugurated a unique exhibition of its kind—it will never see the day and with reason, since its works are buried in a specially designed underground area. The Underground Sculpture Park was imagined by Loris Gréaud for the Casa Wabi Foundation, a residence of artists.
An artistic underground project
The exhibition and production space, founded in 2014, now shelters, on a permanent basis, a score of emblematic works by this enterprising artist, who continues to create very original concepts. Visitors can imagine them under the gardens, designed by Alberto Kalach, along the paths prolonging the architecture of the institution, conceived by the famed Japanese, Tadao Ando.
An underground poetic melody
Nothing will be visible from the outside. Only benches for the anniversary date of the parc's inauguration, on the 1st of February 2020, will be installed. And after the vegetation has taken over, you will be able to enjoy a contemplative point of view on the surrounding landscape, while arty installations arty will be on display a few meters under your feet. An off-the-beaten-track happening that is clearly worth the journey under the tropics…
