Owned by Alexis Dmitriev, the Château La Martinette produces the exceptional vintages of a lover of wine, and a lover of Provence...
This wine lover from colder climes is the proud owner of Château La Martinette since the end of 2011. He has transformed his estate near Lorgues with the ambition of making it one of the finest in the Côtes-de-Provence region. Recently restructured, the Alexis Dmitriev’s vineyard now extends over an additional 50 hectares of vines to produce around 300 000 bottles.
At Château La Martinette, love of wine and love of Provence
The cellar, designed by architect Bernard Mazières, was constructed in harmony with its Provençal surroundings, while being equipped with the latest technology in wine-making. This process is entrusted to Stéphane Derenoncourt and the oenologist Bruno Tringali, a specialist of the region’s wines and terroirs, who brings his technical expertise. The estate is also home to a plantation of nearly 2000 olive trees, as well as natural truffle groves encouraged back into production, and dogs trained in hunting out the « black gold ». In addition, the generous orchard boasts more than 700 trees.
A rigorous wine-making process
To return to our bottles, which are served at the Carré des Feuillants, the two-starred Michelin restaurant of Alain Dutournier, our wines are harvested by hand, sorted and pressed by whole clusters. The wines-to-be are then aged in a cellar where no attention is spared. With its blend of 60 % Rolle and 40 % Sémillon, the white Côtes de Provence, with notes of fennel, green aniseed and white fruits is at its best, while the Caviar Blanc, a single cepage of Rolle grapes is already a cult wine. Turning to rosé, the Rollier de la Martinette, a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, distinguished by its citrus aromas, is deliciously inviting and a perfect pairing for barbecues. As for the Château La Martinette, this great classic with a rich aromatic palette is best enjoyed with spicy dishes. A special mention for the Imbroglio vintages, to be savoured among the initiated. Let’s not forget Aurore sur la Moskova ! With a wink to Alexei Dmitriev’s origins, this wine with woody notes has already won a place for itself on the finest tables. For lovers of red, the noble character of the Château La Martinette makes it a must-have, while the aromas of dark fruit of the Tournée des Princes make it a delicate discovery. All these vintages are rooted in the famous Provençal terroir.
