Hôtel Ritz, 120 years of palace history at auction
From the 17th to the 21st of April 2018, Artcurial will put up for auction 10 000 pieces from the former furniture of the Hotel Ritz in front of a crowd of nostalgic buyers.
After organizing the furniture sales of the Hotel de Crillon, the Plaza Athénée and Tour d'Argent, auctioneer Maitre François Tajan, will disperse 3 500 lots, duly stamped « Ritz Paris », with an estimation range spanning from 100 to 5 000 €. During the renovations, objects placed in the 124 containers by the palace on Place Vendôme, in Paris, are sure to create a sensation.

Bathtubs, beds, dressers, linens, curtains, slippers, ashtrays, umbrellas, all accumulated over 120 years, will be on display at Artcurial, Rond Point des Champs Élysées, a deluxe Haussmann landmark transformed into a mini Ritz by a leading decorator. This event will be preceeded by a special exhibition, testimony to the unequaled prestige incarnated by this famous palace.
35h of sales with 2 M€ of proceeds expected
Collectors and vintage lovers will have the opportunity to take home objects of this intimate and sparkling venue that was immediately adopted by celebrities from around the world : artists, crowned heads and writers, amongst which Marcel Proust, Ernest Hemingway, Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel or Maria Callas, who all had their habits there and contributed to writing up the myth !
