La Divine Comédie, an upscale multi-faceted homestead, at the heart of Avignon
Spending a weekend at La Divine Comédie, entails discovering a prestigious guest house as one admires while leafing through a decoration magazine.
Hidden by tall walls, in the historical center of Avignon, the Divine Comédie is a timeless address at the heart of Provence. Built on what was, during the 18th century, the residence of the Cardinal de Lur Saluces, this deluxe guest house is settled on the largest private garden of the Cité des Papes and since its opening, it has been transformed into a residence for the « Happy Few ».
A very hospitable Divine Comédie, in Avignon
At the origin of the project, two Parisians. Amaury de Villoutreys, asset manager and Gilles Jauffret, decorator architect, felt an immediate heart throb for this exceptional venue that ressembles a museum. Their mission was to restore its original prestige, during seven years of renovation work, to turn it into a small urban resort for today's curious travellers seeking authenticity. A totally successful venture !
Personalized welcome and a touch of eccentricity
Open year-round, la Divine Comédie is rarely empty and it requires a little pull to be trusted with the precious key leading to one of the 5 suites. All different and open on a park with centenial plane trees, Anatole, Venise, Consul, Aphrodite and Naples recall eternal Italy and are furnished with antiques found here and there. In this exceptional setting, personalized service is totally exacting, offering a subtle mix of elegance and tradition, enhanced with a touch of eccentric folly.
