Since its inauguration in December 2012, attendance at the Louvre Lens, a sister gallery to the Paris museum, has grown with each new season and cultural event. With the most ambitious exhibition ever dedicated to Homer, the author of the Iliad and Odyssey, two sagas written nearly 30 centuries ago that remain just as relevant today, the museum will continue to set new records.

Homer inside the Louvre Lens

Until 22 July 2019, visitors will be able to learn all about the « Prince of Poets », whose very existence is a topic of debate among historians. His works, which form the basis for all of Western culture, offer a unique glimpse into a world that is equal parts beautiful and mysterious. The exhibition explores the concepts of « Homerania » that helped shape archaeology and inspire a worldwide interest in Grecian art.

Ancient and modern Greece

Sprinkled with busts, statues, paintings, drawings, and antique objects, the exhibition breathes life into the main heroes and heroic tales of the Iliad and Odyssey, including the main episodes from the Trojan War, the exploits of Achilles, and the travels of Ulysses. Get ready to immerse yourself in this other world—especially if you’re planning an upcoming trip to Greece this summer.
