City break a very Gothic night at the Martin's Dream Hotel of Mons, in Belgium
Staying at the Martin's Dream Hotel of Mons, in Belgium, allows visitors to take an unusual Gothic city break during a weekend.
In Mons, chief-town of the Wallon region of Hainaut, there are many unusual attractions. It holds the world record of patrimonial sites classified by UNESCO. Amongst these, a former neo-Gothic 19th century church shelters the Martin’s Dream Hotel, a 4 star venue, ideally located in the historical center, offering to its clients the possibility of living an experience in a place of memory.
A Gothic escapade in Mons
In this atypical place, occupied in the past by Redemptorist Fathers, the hotel group tells its own story. Everywhere, vestiges recall its original function, which began in 1851. The high ceilings, gothic vaults, the rose window and columns have been renovated while preserving the very particular style of this former religious edifice featuring unique charm.
A sacred thematic
Under the roofs, each one of the 62 bedrooms is different, all are equipped with ultra comfortable bathrooms, and in some cases bathtubs facing the stainglass windows. In keeping with the theme, the lounge bar is named The Delirium, while the restaurant, featuring Italian savours, has taken the name Mezzo and the Spa is Alter Ego. Be reassured, the staff will not be greeting you in Latin…
