Ready to discover one of the historic and patrimonial gems of Belgium? A few kilometers from the canals of Bruges, the Château de Loppem will take you on a journey through time. You will not be the first to walk across the parquet floors of the neo-Gothic edifice, carefully preserved by the Fondation Jean van Caloen, and where King Albert Ist and Queen Elisabeth stayed in 1918.

Château de Loppem, beating heart of Western Flanders

In the hands of the same family since its construction, in 1858, the interior and the apartments of this classified historical monument are decorated in perfect harmony with the architectural style. They will enable you to partake in the Belgian aristocratic life. Take the stairs! Majestic, it will lead you to the 1st floor, where is located the family chapel highlighted by stainglass windows—testimony to the know-how of local craftsmanship.

Culture and nature in symbiosis

Art lovers will be able to admire collections accumulated over time. They comprise medieval sculptures, Flemish mural paintings, sandstone from Raeren and Westerwald, alabaster from Malines, Portuguese ivories, illuminated manuscripts, drawings and prints. After culture, there is room for relaxation in the park with its grottos and labyrinths. But careful not to get lost…
