For their 14th edition, the Journées Européennes des Métiers d’Art will be highlighting the know-how and "the work process of materials".
From the 3rd to the 13th of April 2020, 10 days will be dedicated to celebrate the talents and creativity of professionals in the art trades and living patrimony. The workshops, the training centres and the cultural venues wishing to participate in the JEMA, will be selected through special applications. They will have to set forth a programming enhancing the entire creation process — from the raw material to the end product.
Highlighting different craftsmanship trades
The events will revolve around a central theme of "working materials". Whether they are noble, raw, enhanced, off-beat, recycled, hybrid or just to be imagined, touched or modelled, they are totally in keeping with know-how. As an invitation to dreaming, reflection and discovery, this initiative will be a great way to make visitors sensitive to the work required by each artist.
The arts union for all of Europe
This will be an ideal occasion to explore Scandinavian design, the colorful and ornamented facades of Portuguese azulejos, Italian fashion houses or Swiss clockmaking. In Paris, a special exhibition will be taking place at the Galerie des Gobelins du Mobilier National, while in Germany, more than 500 events will be organized. As for Ireland, it will parktake in the "Design and Craft Council of Ireland", Greece will have many of its national museums participate and Lituania will apply the "Vilnius Municipal Crafts" programme. All these special rendezvous will enable the united talents of Europe to be admired thanks to their cultural beauties.
